Conjugado
The starting point for the dramaturgical construction of Conjugado was the use of dramaturgical systems and a series of interviews with solitary individuals in the major urban centers of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The results of these interviews served as the foundation for the play’s script and a documentary presented in a video installation at the end of the performance.
The audience watched the play through blinds that enclosed a cube, inside which a real and functional apartment was set up, including a tv set running a live local program. The actress’s work oscillated between the person and the character, in a game that assembled and disassembled the scene, life—through documentary texts and TV images—and theater.
The final result blended theater, performance, documentary, and installation.
Conjugado was created in close collaboration with actress Malu Galli, well-known in Brazil for her theater and TV work.
Conjugado was the first project in the trilogy titled One Chair for Solitude, Two for Dialogue, Three for Society. later on joined by A Falta que nos Move (The Absence that Moves Us) and Corte Seco (Hard Cut).
