Text of the play
What if they went to Moscow? by Christiane Jatahy
Cobogó Editions
Part of the text from Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov, this refers to the eternal loop of three women—Olga, Irina, and Masha—who stand on the edge of a trampoline, still bound to the past but poised to take a dizzying leap into the future. A future in which they are the protagonists of their own story, and in which “Moscow,” the place they idealize, is no longer a utopia—it is real.
The book And What If They Went to Moscow? is a bilingual edition (Portuguese and French) of this play by Christiane Jatahy, presented in more than ten countries and awarded multiple prizes, including the Shell and APTR Awards for Best Direction (Christiane Jatahy) and the Shell Award for Best Actress (Stella Rabello).

This article approaches, in principle, some aspects of the formation and the artistic trajectory of the playwright and director Christiane Jatahy, from the 1990s. But the most specific objective of this text is to present an analysis and a critical reflection on the spectacle “What if they were for Moscow? “, which the director debuted in Rio de Janeiro in 2014 and has already performed in different states of Brazil and in several countries mainly in Europe.
